Free Soil is a blog created by activists for activists. Taking the name from the anti-slavery Free Soil Party of the 19th century, Free Soil is a space for activists to write and share ideas pertaining to the struggle for democracy, civil rights, and social justice.

Joseph Gallagher is a civil servant, writer, and activist from Philadelphia. A gradute from Arcadia University, Glenside, Pennslyvania with a degree in history. When he is not writing, Joseph enjoys painting and playing role hiking.
